River Day fell on West Virginia Day this week, but only two of us were able to make it down to celebrate - Tim and I (Mark).
Once again we took the holiday on the road and traveled upriver from the usual spot. This week we were along Royal Road just off Rt 41, in sight of the bridges over the river. We had a little rain early on, but not enough to bother us. Temps were in the mid 70's with an overcast sky.

We fished the entire time we were there, and despite having 3 fishing poles out, neither of us caught a thing; we didn't even have a bite. We mostly used night-crawlers on the bottom, but tried other stuff as well - maybe the fish have caught on to Monday evenings?

The frustration of not catching anything led up to the random quote of the week: "If you were a worm...you could swim from one bank of this river to the other and not get hit."
Maybe you had to be there, but that statement struck me as funny and I told Tim I was going to quote him on the blog. It's the simple observations that make the most sense.
No fire this week so we can't make the usual claim, but we did have a great evening on the river.
