River Day 12/18/2017 - Christmas Edition

The annual Christmas celebration, Rivertarian style, was held at the camp this week, as is the proper thing to do.  All of us made it down for what was most likely the last River Day of 2017.  Those in attendance were : Jay, Tim, Ted, Pat, and myself.  The weather wasn't bad, mid 40's and partly cloudy, but a little snow might have been more fitting, considering the occasion.
We enjoyed a little gift giving, a couple of cold beverages, some food on the grill (thanks Ted!), and a holiday toast (thanks Tim!).

We even had some traditional Christmas music, along with some nice lighting.  This was a group effort that nearly everyone had a hand in.
I took a good amount of pics, and I've added some that Ted sent me.  I've attempted to group them in some kind of order that makes sense, with some captioning along the way.  Enjoy.

River Day 11/27/2017

I wasn't able to attend River Day this week, but Ted sent me some photos to post for this week's celebration.  Jay and Tim were also there, along with the self-appointed Mayor, Freddy.

All I can say is that we had a beautiful day in Southern WV, especially for this time of year.  I have no idea what everyone did, nor what they talked about.  I can say I was there in spirit.  Hate I had to miss this week.  I'll be out for the next two weeks also, but I hope everyone else is able to enjoy their River Day!

Thanks for sharing the pics, Ted!

River Day 11/20/2017

River Day was actually held at the river this week!  As you can see from the photos, it looks a bit different at the river.  All the leaves are down, and the place has the look of winter to it.  We had pretty good weather for the day; clear skies and temps around 45....until the sun set.  We (Jay, Ted and I) stayed pretty close to the fire.

We had our usual visit from the Mayor (aka/Freddy) but he didn't stay too long.  We were disappointed that he didn't really have any good stories or gossip, especially considering how few celebrations we've had at the river over the past few months.  For some reason Freddy is still reluctant to take us caroling this year.  Maybe he's heard about our singing? or our songs?  No tellin'.

The river was down pretty low, and if it had been summer, or 30 degrees warmer, I would have fished.  But it wasn't, so I didn't.

Once again, another great River Day!

Fall Camping Trip: November 1-5, 2017

Another annual fall camping trip has come and gone, and it always feels like it marks the end of the year.

We spent the trip at the campground at the mouth of Glade Creek again this year, with a smaller than usual group: Jay, Tim, Ted, Pat, Todd and me.  We often have a few stragglers that pop in and out, but that wasn't the case this year.  Most of the time was spent in the campground, around the fire, the coffee pot, or the food, with a few excursions thrown in.

I'm posting a fairly large number of photos, so I'll let them speak for the area, and for the trip.  Hope everyone enjoys them.

This trip has been a long held tradition, and I hope and pray that it goes on for years to come, for each one of us.
