RIVER DAY 4/26/10

The weather turn a little nasty this week....rained on and off most of the evening, ran us onto the porch to seek shelter a couple of times. Ron came down for a while, we made a few more repairs to the shed...(Trying desperately to save this building...it's a valiant effort) Making some progress...as you can see by the pictures.

This was probably the most productive afternoon for fishing since I've been coming down to river. Jay caught about 12 or so, and Mark pulled in another 10 or 11 !!! I guess it's possible it was the same fish a couple of times... some kept coming up with less and less upper lips!

Everyone was able to make it tonight except for Pat...

River Day - 04/19/2010

Everyone was out of town this week except for Ted and I, but we still had a nice River Day. Temps were in the mid-60's, we had clear skies, and the fish were biting.

Most of the evening was spent on beginning repairs to the building. I think all of us have been ready to write it off as fuel for the fire, but Ron is determined to get it back together for at least the summer season. He had already straightened the walls up a bit over the weekend.

Ron came down and Ted and I helped him "pull" the floor back together, with a come-along; something you don't see every day.

One of the neighbors, Freddy, supervised when we started adding sheets of chip board to the walls. He figured he needed to supervise since he was the only one wearing a hat, and carrying a beer.

He did have some good ideas, and as you can tell from the pictures, the building is well on it's way to being stable again.

River Day 04/05/2010

As you can tell from the picture, with the warmer weather we don't have to pay all of our attention to the fire. The temperature Monday evening was close to 80, and as the day went on, mostly sunny. Everyone was able to be there this week - Jay, Ted, Tim, Pat and Mark (not pictured).

The after-affects of the flooding from a few weeks ago are still visible and probably will be for some time, but that doesn't stop us from enjoying the river.

Jay and I caught a few fish this week using helgramites (sp?), and the crawfish (or crayfish depending on where you're from) are starting to move around now too.

Even though we all enjoyed the winter evenings at the river, everyone seems to be ready for the Spring/Summer season.
