(Not Your Typical) River Day 07/04/2011

River Day fell on Independence Day this year, so I guess you could say the whole country celebrated the holiday this week!

It wasn't a typical River Day as everyone was off celebrating with their own families. My family was at the river over the weekend, including Monday, so I thought it was appropriate to go ahead and make a regular post.

I pulled my camper down to the usual weekly spot to camp for the weekend. It was a tight fit where it's parked, and it had to be pulled in by hand and 4-wheeler part of the way. I'm not really sure how I'll get it out - that'll probably be a project for another Monday evening.

As you can see in the photos, Ron made use of the flag Jay donated. We hoisted it up a tree near my camper, using bamboo and rope to hold it up. We may not have had the best fire on the river this week (lots of other campers), but I'd be willing to bet we had the biggest flag!

Hope everyone had a great River Day...okay, Independence Day!

  1. Thanks for the post and the pictures Mark... Just a quick update on how the rest of the River Rats celebrated this past Monday-The Fourth of July. Jay and I spent most of the weekend at the campsite down at WaynesWorld and balanced some work schedules during the weekend as well. Ted was able to make it down Monday around noon and spent the night. All in all it was a nice holiday weekend, always enjoy celebrating our countries independence and recognizing the sacrifice that those have made over the years to ensure that we can celebrate independence. God Bless America.... Still the GREATEST country on earth!!
