River Day 05/16/2011

Jay, Tim and I made it down to the river this week. Temps have cooled a bit since the last 2 weeks, and I think it dropped about 10 degrees in the few hours we were there - from near 60 to near 50. It felt more like a fall day than a late spring day! It did sprinkle rain a little while we were there, but not enough to run us off.

All three of us fished for most of the evening, and we were all catching (not just casting). As the evening went on we made regular trips up to the fire to warm up. With the cool air and the wind, a toboggan would have been nice, or at least ear muffs.

The camp owners have done a little landscaping and flower planting, so everything is really looking nice at the camp. In the one picture, we weren't sure if we were looking at a small grave or a morbid flower bed. They even have one flower planted in a tree stump.

The camper has also been moved back to the camp while they decide how to handle the repairs. It has a temporary patch on top now to keep the weather out, but I'm not sure how that's going to hold up. It was done with chip board and silicon and looks like it's dipping in the middle, probably from the lack of a truss underneath. But at least they get to use it for now.

Despite the chilly evening, it was a great night to be on the river; great friends, good fishing, nice place to be.
