River Day 04/09/2012
Although we had beautiful weather this week at the river, it couldn't be described as warm. Along with the blue skies, we had winds that must have been up to about 20 mph - definitely not short sleeve temps. Kevin, Ted, Jay, Tim and I all made it down for the weekly holiday.
Tim and I started fishing early on (first one's down this week) and the fish were already biting. Tim went on a helgramite hunt and found several to add to the container that had been in deep freeze for the last couple of weeks. It must have helped because most of them (the frozen ones) came out of hibernation (body heat?). Casting against the wind turned out to be tricky so the group split up a little, with the majority trying their luck downstream a bit, shielded some by the trees. I think everyone caught at least a couple; Kevin even joined in the fishing this week.
Ron joined us later in the evening to do some temporary repairs to the top of the camper. The wind had brought down yet another tree limb, and this time a vent cover on the camper was smashed. He was able to cover it against the weather until a permanent fix can be made.
Freddy visited for a while and joined the conversation around the fire (best on the river!). I'm pretty sure we covered most political issues in about an hour. Not sure we solved anything, but it's always good hearing everyone's 2 cents worth.
