Things are continuing to green up along the river, but it seems to be a slow process. Could be the sub-freezing temps and snow from the weekend. None-the-less, it's looking more and more like spring. And we had spring-like temps to go with the look - low 70's, blue skies (mostly), and a little wind.
Only Pat and I were at the river, not counting Freddy. I tried a little fishing on and off. No luck yet, but it was enjoyable as always. The water level seemed a little lower than normal for this time of year. No, I don't know what the water temperature was. Turned over several rocks but it's apparently still a little early for helgies.
We hung around the fire place most of the time, but it was one of those rare River Days where we had NO fire. You read correctly - no fire. There was plenty to burn, but the wind would have made it a little less that safe, given that nearby Grandview park had a brush fire just last week.
Sometime over the last few weeks Ron, or someone helping him, moved the camper back into it's usual resting spot. Maybe it'll get some activity over the summer. I'm sure it would do some good for a few people to get back to enjoying the river.
Once I left the river, I stopped by Jay's, where he and Ted were celebrating River Day. As is often the case, we got into a little project, maybe a bit too over-zealously, but with acceptable results (I think).
Anyway, I got to see most of the Rivertarians on River Day, just not all at the river. Guess I got to celebrate the holiday in stages.
By the way, has anyone seen Tim? He's been MIA a little too long.
Happy River Day!
