River Day 07/11/2011

We celebrated a fairly subdued River Day this week; Jay, Tim and I were able to make it down. We weren't able to all get together last week, so a good bit of the evening was spent catching up on what everyone did over the July 4th holiday.

This was the first week in about a month or so that we were able to go to our usual spot ("the camp") and it was nice getting back there. Not too many changes except for the big flag and my camper sitting there (and we have a plan for getting that out!).

The weather was good, but hot - around 90 degrees. It probably comes as no surprise, but we still had a fire; a small one, but a fire none-the-less.

It was a pretty early evening for Jay and Tim, and I hung around about an hour or so after they left to fish a little. I had about the same luck I've had for the last three weeks, but at least I was fishing. The photos here were taken after the others had left for the evening.

(Not Your Typical) River Day 07/04/2011

River Day fell on Independence Day this year, so I guess you could say the whole country celebrated the holiday this week!

It wasn't a typical River Day as everyone was off celebrating with their own families. My family was at the river over the weekend, including Monday, so I thought it was appropriate to go ahead and make a regular post.

I pulled my camper down to the usual weekly spot to camp for the weekend. It was a tight fit where it's parked, and it had to be pulled in by hand and 4-wheeler part of the way. I'm not really sure how I'll get it out - that'll probably be a project for another Monday evening.

As you can see in the photos, Ron made use of the flag Jay donated. We hoisted it up a tree near my camper, using bamboo and rope to hold it up. We may not have had the best fire on the river this week (lots of other campers), but I'd be willing to bet we had the biggest flag!

Hope everyone had a great River Day...okay, Independence Day!
