River Day 05/18/2020

Another afternoon of perfect attendance for the Rivertarian party - we are on a roll!  Ted, Pat, Tim, Jay and I had a (mostly) front porch kinda River Day at Jay's this week.  The weather was pretty nice early on, then clouded up with some light rain toward the end.

Jay (and Lori) have done some more work on the tractor over the weekend; I think everyone got the chance to check that out.  Going to be in great shape by the time we get to Christmas.

Sad to say that the real highlight of the evening was trying to figure out where the Beckley Fire Department responded to on S. Kanawha St.  After hearing 50 or 60 sirens (okay, but it sounded like it), we turned on a couple of scanner apps on our phones.  We never heard what address or block they were on, only that it was a structure fire.

As a note of record, I'd like to thank Jay for being the only person that noticed that I'd shaved my beard off.  Now if I could just get a haircut...

Friday Meeting 05/15/2020

So this week's meeting had a great turn out:  100% attendance by the Rivertarian party: Jay, Tim, Ted, Pat and myself.   We got together at Jay's for an afternoon of laughs and a few cold ones.  We actually got to spend a good deal of our time outside - looks like spring has finally arrived (where ya been?!?).

Jay broke out the tractor for a little show-and-tell.  He's really done a great job with this project, and is carrying on a family tradition.  Can't wait till winter for our 1st annual caroling expedition.

After the tractor was safely parked and secured, we went inside for the next phase of our entertainment for the day: a father/son nacho cookoff special broadcast on Facebook Live.  The cookoff involved Bill Murray and his son Homer, against Guy Fieri and his son Hunter.  Watching was fun, as was the commentary from the "panel" on the broadcast.  And I'm sure that everyone familiar with our little group will know that we had our own running commentary going as well.

As always, it's great getting together on a regular basis.  Here's to many more to come!

It was a Fabulous Monday, Thanks to Tim, Ted, J ! Lot's of laughter as always and plenty of world solving! We all did miss the other rivertarians and hope that all is well with them? I do believe that we are all looking forward to warmer weather so that we can get some time by the river bank or even hang out on someone's porch. Friday Meeting 05/08/2020

So this Friday Jay, Ted and I got together for one of our weekly Rivertarian meetings.  Logan came down and joined us after his cousins left.

You can tell from the picture that safety was a key issue during the meeting: for both working with power tools, and blowing stuff up.

Jay gave Logan a little project in removing paint from a couple of bolts from his tractor (he even let me play a little).  And then in true Rivertarian tradition, we got a little more creative.

You're probably wondering how this happened. No?  Well here's a little visual, and then a short video that tells the whole story.

And by the way, I would have never done this in my house!

Happy Monday!! It was a great day to get together, the weather was perfect and the cold beers were enjoyed by Tim, Ted, & Jay...No projects this Monday just a lot of good conversations and lots of talk about the fall camping trip. We are in search for fire wood for the trip and might have to go on a road trip to get some? As always it was a Great day.

Better late then never! It's a late post and there are no pic's, but on a good note we did get together on Monday for the River day Celebration. We ( Tim. Ted, Pat, Jay ) spent a good amount of time working and helping me ( J ) on my Power King Tractor! We made lot's of progress and enjoyed a few cold ones along with some great conversations. I'm not sure what it is but the conversations and laughter that goes on during a river day is so great but I have such a hard time remembering what it was all about the next day? As time got later we did have a complete river day, with Mark showing up for a quick visit. Thanks Mark! Sometimes it's hard for all of us to be together but any time spent together is better then nothing! Looking forward to catching up with all fellow Rivertarians this Friday... " O " that's tomorrow.

Friday Get Together 04/24/2020

Sorry, no pics this go-round, but wanted to make a short post anyway.

Jay, Ted and I were able to get together at Jay's Friday afternoon for some much needed stress relief.  Can't think of a better way to do that than spend a few hours laughing my rear end off while either telling, or listening to each other's stories.

Anyone that's been around us very long will understand, but telling a story among fellow Rivertarians is never a straight line from point A to point B.  There are lots of twists and turns along the way.  Sometimes even steep drop offs.  And if you can manage to get back on track after all the obstacles you've done really well.

I'm not sure that anyone actually remembers any of the stories when we're done, but we have a great time trying.
