Yep!! So sorry that none of us where able to get together.. But on a good note I did receive my Golden Mountaineers card!

Prayer Meeting 1/21/2022

Tim,Ted,and I got together this afternoon for the weekly prayer meeting even though it was snowing and the temps......Well it was cold! We certainly did miss Mark, but it's not every day that your wife has a Birthday! So the afternoon was full of much discussion about some of the incredible things that have been constructed by man in the past 100 years +/- a few, and that lead to much talk about the Mackinac Bridge and island.

We ended up watching some "You Tube" on how the bridge was constructed along with information about the winds and vehicles that have blown over the rails. As you see from the pictures, everyone was very much engaged with the program. Great history and I thank Tim for his aid with some of the facts!! Hope you guys and followers have a good weekend.

River Day 1/17/2022

It doesn't happen often but.....Tim, Mark, and Ted did not attend the Monday event, due to very cold temps with gusty winds and it was also MLK day! I sure did miss spending some time with the guy's but days like this do happen. So I spent the afternoon plowing snow and then relaxing with a bowl of "Chicken Corn Soup"

Prayer Meeting 01/14/2022

Jay, Tim, Ted and I got together for our end-of-week "meeting".  Yes, it was cold.  No, I don't remember what the temperature was.  I do remember that it was warm and toasty in the shop though.

We had a visit from Jay's grandkids for a little bit, and who doesn't like to have fun with kids?  As you can tell from the photos, it's probably not a great idea to trust your children with us.  Ah, think of the memories we're creating!

As always, I'm grateful to have friends like these guys.  They even put up with a bit of an emotional moment (on my part) over David's birthday.  As I write this, it would have been his 59th birthday, and he is missed every day.  Thanks guys.

Not too much  to write about this week, but I'm glad we had the opportunity to get together again.

River Day 1/10/2022

Happy Monday or Tuesday? Tim ,Ted ,and I where able to get together for a short Monday afternoon. Ted dropped by for about an hour and a half due to the possibilities of watching his grandkids. I was able to demonstrate my temporary shop light!

For the full effect the light needed to be turned on! Any way it was a good afternoon spent with a good bunch of guys, we sure did miss Mark.. So with that being said the weather was Cold!! Hope you all have a good week!

Prayer Meeting 01/07/2022

We missed Ted during the Friday meeting this week, but Jay, Tim and I were able to attend.  The weather was, as Jay used to describe it, "raw".  And I couldn't agree more.  Temps were in the mid-teens, and there was somewhere around 6 inches of snow on the ground (give or take), under cloudy skies.  Fortunately, we weren't huddled around a fire on the river, where it would probably have felt much colder.

I was describing a guy that is apparently a friend of one of my daughters and used a term we were all familiar with, but you don't hear used very much: trogladyte.  Think cave man and you'll get the picture.  This of course led to more discussion of the word and a song we all remembered from our youth.  Here's a link for your listening and viewing pleasure:

Ah, the good old days.

Checking the temp on the 30 or so thermometers in Jay's shop, we discovered that we actually have one in common.  They were purchased by our kids at their elementary school nearly twenty years ago.  The difference in the two is in how they've been used over the years: Jay's has always been inside and mine has always been used outside.  The differences are pretty dramatic.

After Tim left, Jay, Lori and I were talking about the TSA and flying, and how the Airport Nazis confiscated one of my favorite gifts (pictured).  I had flown with it numerous times before an over-zealous agent decided it was a disallowed "blade".  I really miss having it.  Glad Jay still has his.

Great way to wrap up an otherwise busy, stressful week.

River Day 01/03/2022

 First post of the new year - welcome 2022!

Jay, Ted and I got together this Monday at Jay's.  It was a cold day (mid 20's) with close to two inches of snow from earlier in the morning.  Sorry guys, you know I have to give the weather - old habit.

It was nice to see that Jay already has the 2021 camping trip photo hung up with the others.  Seems to be the general consensus that the orange guy in the foreground is a bit distracting.  He is a bit bright.  Sorry guys.

After Jay posted the final blog entry for 2021 it put us up to an all time high for any calendar year since we started documenting - 75.  The previous year had been the leader up to then.  I think we can get even more this year, even though Jay claims he's taking a sabbatical from posting.  I appreciate all the pics that everyone submits.

Great way to bring in the new year.

Oh, the picture from this week reminded me of Christmas, I'll let you figure out why.
