Prayer Meeting 08/27/2021
My sincere apologies for the delayed post from this past Friday. We had an excellent Prayer Meeting this week, along with some spirits - and not the Holy kind.
Tim, Jay, Ted and I got together at Jay's for our end of week gathering and partook of some long anticipated cocktails, this time in the order of Manhattans. Tim and Jay pooled some resources and provided for the four of us to step out of our norm (Yuengling) and drink something a little more sophisticated. The guys had a "family" recipe that they made, and after a rough start, went down way too easily. Thanks guys!
Tim even brought a purse to carry his goodies in.
On another note, I should have listened closer to Jay about making notes to include things in the blog. But I didn't. So here goes the quote of the week, with no explanation, because I can't remember the context it was used in (sorry Jay):
"I can piss in Morse Code"
Another great evening with friends!

Prayer Meeting 08/13/2021
Friday the 13th did not deter us in any way from celebrating our end of week get-together, and we even had a full house, plus visitors! Despite a threat of rain and lightning, the weather turned out great with temps in the mid 80's. All of the Rivertarians made it this week (rare): Tim, Ted, Jay, Pat and me. Ted's brothers also came to visit for the weekend. Great having Mark and Steve join us - it's been a while since we've seen these guys.
We had a little project early on (when Lori told us to get busy lol) up by Park Middle School. A tree service had taken down an old Maple at the corner and Lori had them save the big pieces that hadn't been mulched. So we jumped in (or on in the case of Tim and me) Jay's truck and went to retrieve the wood. The inside of the tree was infested with large black ants and they were not happy. Hey, do you know what's worse than ants in your pants? Wait, never mind. Anyway, we dropped the wood off at Christina's for future use.
The rest of the evening was spent laughing it up on the front porch, watching the hummingbirds, and talking about food. The details are a little foggy now as I write this, but somewhere along the line we agreed that our conversational goal seemed to be offending as many people as possible. I'm sure that any passer-by would have agreed.
Truly a great evening with great people.

Prayer Meeting 08/06/2021
The usual bunch attended this week's Prayer Meeting at Jay's: Tim, Ted, Jay and I. We couldn't have asked for better weather - blue skies, sunshine, and temps in the low 80's. Perfect for a front porch get together.
While we were sitting around doing the normal Rivertarian stuff (telling stories, solving issues, hoisting a cold one or two, and generally interrupting each other) I set my camera up on a tripod to try to get some decent pictures of the hummingbirds at Jay's feeders. I probably took 50 or so, but settled on two for the blog post. It's not like I was working at it or anything, thanks to modern technology. All I had to do was wait for one to get the the pre-focused on spot and click a remote control.
Ted brought some more goodies from the garden, and since I took the bounty from Monday, Tim got dibs on what he wanted. Thanks Ted!
Jay and retired to the shop for a while after everyone else left for the evening, where we inspected the work he was doing on his grandson's bike. The pic shows some of the parts he was replacing, along with some tire patching material (a lost art?).
Once again, it was a great time with great people.

River Day 08/02/2021
Jay, Ted, Pat and I got together this week at Jay's for River Day. The temps have taken a little dip since last time - sunny but low 70's, and the wind had a little chill. One of our world renowned fires would have been great.
We saw something a little unusual for the time of day - two deer walking in the yards across from Jay's, then moseying down the street - a doe and her fawn. Sorry the pics are a little fuzzy, but they didn't pose much.
Sorry that Tim couldn't make it this week, but I'm not sorry that I ended up with the whole Ted produce package. Fried green tomatoes for dinner!
I don't have any pics of them, but the hummingbirds seemed especially active this evening. That's always cool to watch.
Happy River Day to all!
