River Day 12/16/2019 (Christmas Edition)

For the first time in the history of National River Day, the annual Christmas celebration wasn't held at the river.  None-the-less, we had a great evening getting together at Jay's.

Tim, Jay, Ted, and myself were able to meet for a pretty low-key River Day/Christmas celebration, Rivertarian style - traditional Christmas music, cold ones, some mostly true stories, and other activities related to our gatherings.

The yearly group photo from the annual camping trip is always given out at this time of year.  Jay was the first to display this year's, and it was added to his new display area in the shop.

Not much to add, other than to say it's always great to take advantage of every opportunity to get together with our loved ones, friends, whatever.

This may be the last post for 2019 so we'd like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!

Fall Camping Trip: Nov 6 - Nov 10, 2019

This year's Fall Camping Trip post is a little later than usual - lots of pics to sort through, and had to wait on my photo editor for the final touch.

As always, the trip was a great success.  The weather was a little colder than we've had in the last several years, dropping to 18 degrees one night (almost a record).  We did have access to electricity at our camp sites, so staying warm wasn't too much of a problem.  And let's not forget the best fire in the campground.

We camped at Blue Bend Recreational Area this year, due to Sherwood being closed for our time window.  With the exception of Mike, the place worked out great.  We were the only ones there for the most part, excluding the suspected fugitives.

In addition to the usual group - Jay, Ted, Tim, Pat and Mark - we also had Timmy (Tim's son) and Matt (Pat's son).  This was Matt's first time to take part in the trip.  Hope he enjoyed spending part of his leave with us.  I'm pretty sure David was with us as well.

Once again instead of trying to give a "blow by blow" of the activities on the trip, I'll let the pictures tell the story.  I've tried to post them in chronological order, but there are a few that will be a little out of "order".   There were well over a hundred pics taken this year, so I've tried to pare it down a little by getting rid of duplicates.  Oh, and there's a bonus video at the end of the pics.  Be sure to check it out.

I think I speak for everyone else in stressing how important this tradition has become for all of us.  May it last well into the future!
