River Day 10/23/2017

Due to a rain-out, River Day was held at Jay's house this week, but at least we did have a River Day.  So while the weather was nasty outside, it was nice and dry in the workshop.  The only thing missing was a fire.  Unless you count Ted's stogie.

We were all able to get together this week: Jay, Ted, Pat, Tim and I.  Freddy did not join in the celebration.

Since we were restricted to a smaller space, the evening was spent in conversation.  Everything from stolen cars, to guns, to phones, to the annual camping trip (which is coming up next week!).  No projects, no dart games.  Just good conversation (well, to us anyway).

May not seem like much of a River Day celebration to some of our readers, but anytime we're able to get together makes it all worthwhile.

Happy River Day!

River Day 10/16/2017

It's hard to believe, but the last time I've been to the river was July 22.  The River Days I've celebrated since then have all been nearer to home.  Some of the Rivertarians have been to the river since then, but they haven't posted anything on the blog.  Work and other schedules have taken a toll on the attendance this year.  Isn't this supposed to be getting easier?!?

At any rate, Tim, Pat and I made it down to the camp this week to celebrate a quiet holiday.  Jay and Ted weren't able to make it down.

Fall is certainly in the air for the first time; we had temps in the mid 50's, and the skies went from clear blue, to cloudy with (very) light rain, then back to clear.  The leaves haven't turned all the way yet - most were still green - but you can tell it won't be long.

The river level was down a bit, which is typical for this time of year.  No one tried any fishing, but instead, we stayed close to the fire.

Usually by this time of year we have all the plans for the annual camping trip worked out.  So far we haven't talked it up much, but I'm sure it'll all come together.  We have a little over two weeks to go and I think everyone is looking forward to it.

We did have great conversations this week, and I for one am grateful to have friends to share, gripe, or whatever with.  I consider myself fortunate to get to associate with my fellow Rivertarians on a regular basis.  I'm convinced we need to do it as often as possible, as we never know if we'll have another chance.

As usual, a great time at the river, and of course the best fire on the river!
