River Day 02/22/2016

Back to the river this week to warmer temps, no snow, and no rain.  Ted was the only one of the "regulars" that wasn't able to make it this week, but Scott was.  In addition to our weekly visit from Freddy, we also had his neighbor Dwayne drop by.  That guy might have terrorist ties.

With the heavy rains and melting snow from the last several days, the river level was pretty high.  Luckily, it didn't get up to our wood pile, but it had gotten pretty close.  As usual, there was lots of debris, limbs, and other burnables washing up, so there was no lack of wood for the fire.

Pat brought his Christmas tree from this past season for disposal, which we did, in typical Rivertarian fashion - with fire.  I think he even let it dry out a bit for the occasion.

No cooking over the fire this week, but Scott brought some snacks for everyone.  Thanks Scott!

Gotta love River Day.

River Day 02/15/2016

We had an indoor River Day this week, which equaled warm and dry.  We had a good bit of snow over the weekend, which was supposed to turn to rain and ice, so we opted to stay a little closer to home to celebrate.  So celebrate we did.

Tim, Ted, Pat, Jay and I all made it down...to Jay's basement, where we had an afternoon of darts, beverages, and an electrical project.

And I'm pretty sure we had the best fire on Franklin Ave.

Maybe not the typical River Day, but still a great start to the week!
Tools, drinks, and darts!

Best fire in the basement!

River Day 02/08/2016

We could see snow this week at the river.  Unfortunately, very little of it made it to river level.  We could see it at the tops of the hills, both on the ground and in the trees, but it changed to rain about 100 feet or so above our elevation.  Temps stayed around 40 degrees, away from the fire anyway.  Oh well, it's still pretty cool watching the snow move across the hilltops.

This week Jay, Ted, Pat and I were at the river for the holiday.

Pat brought pallets and hotdogs down, so we cooked one over the other, pitchfork style.  Nothing like a hotdog cooked over the fire, especially when you can do eight of them at the same time.  It's been a while since we've done that, and I think everyone there enjoyed the meal.  I know I did.

Freddy came down to talk with us a while.  Monday's wouldn't be the same if he didn't anymore.

Sometime over the last week or two the river had come up in the yard at the camp, so in addition to the pallets, we had plenty of washed up wood to burn.  Looks like there'll be a little clean up for the next couple of weeks.

Ted helped out with some of the pics this week, so I'm posting quite a few - thanks Ted!

Happy River Day everyone!

What's with the face?!?
