Friday Get Together 01/03/2025

So, I thought I'd start out the new year by trying to make regular posts to this blog again.  It's been mostly neglected for the last few years.  Too much history here to just let it fade away.

Jay, Tim, Ted and I (surprise!) were able to get together at Jay's for a snowy, end of week celebration.  Okay, maybe it was just me celebrating actually being able to hang out for a change, but it was a good time.

We actually celebrated our Rivertarian Christmas just before the New Year holiday, so I'm adding a couple of pics from that to this post.  Seems appropriate since we had some "left over" adult egg nog.

Hoping everyone has a great upcoming new year.  Here's to 2025!

Fall (Camping?) Trip: Oct 20 - 24, 2024

We did something a little different for this year's annual fall trip: no campers, no tents, no sleeping in the back of whatever vehicle we have.  The decision was made early in the year to reserve and stay in a cabin in a local state park.  Specifically at Twin Falls State Park in Wyoming County, WV.

So for the first time in the history of the fall trip we had a warm, dry place to stay.  No worrying about staying warm, staying dry, sleeping in an uncomfortable sleeping bag, having enough water.  Instead we had nice accommodations, cable television, Wi-Fi internet access, a fully equipped kitchen, and maybe most importantly, hot showers in a warm bathroom.  Every. Single. Day.

As always, we had a great time with lots of laughs, maybe a few cold ones, and good food.

Doing things different certainly didn't take anything away from the trip, and who knows, maybe this will become the norm.

Jay, Tim, Ted, Todd and I were all able to attend the yearly excursion.  We couldn't have asked for better weather: beautiful fall skies with daytime temps in the mid 70's - 50's at night.

The cabin had an inside fireplace and an outdoor fire ring, and of course we used both.  Todd even brought a bit of wood that we used for fires more fitting for Rivertarians.

I've tried keeping the photos in mostly chronological order but forgive me where they aren't.  Hope everyone enjoys them and Long Live the Rivertarians!
